:: ADSL2/ADSL2+ Broadband Internet :: |
 |
In recent times, there has been a lot of hype over the availability of ADSL2/ADSL2+ Broadband Internet - but what exactly is it and how can it benefit you and your business?
ADSL stands for Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line sevice. It is called Asymmetrical because the download and upload speeds are not symmetrical (download is faster than upload). ADSL2/ADSL2+ is the next generation of ADSL Broadband offering much higher download speeds at distances further from the telephone exchange, infact your Broadband Internet may be anywhere up to 96 times faster than regular ADSL. Although most Internet Service Providers now have ADSL2/ADSL2+ plans available, many for a similar cost of regular ADSL, unfortunately not everyone can yet access it. Your local telephone exchange must be ADSL2+ enabled.
The benefits for businesses and home users are endless. You will enjoy faster internet and download speeds and your emails will also download faster which is especially beneficial if you receive emails with large attachments. Also, you will find that remote access is faster and more efficient and VPN's will have a better connection.
Of course the value to you or your business greatly depends on how much you rely on the internet and what you use it for. Most ISP's have ADSL2/ADSL2+ details on their websites and many have a search function allowing you to type in your phone number and it will tell you if your local exchange is ADSL2+ enabled. If you are still unsure about whether ADSL2/ADSL2+ is right for you, speak to us and we will provide you with more information allowing you to make an informed choice.
If you would like to check if your exchange has been upgraded to ADSL2/ADSL2+ click on the link below and enter in your address and phone number.

:: Anti-Virus Software :: |
 |
It has come to our attention that many companies are not being vigilant in ensuring that all their computers and servers have adequate anti-virus protection.
Anti-virus software stops viruses, trojans, spyware and other malicious software from entering computers and networks and possibly causing irreprible damage.
It is important to remember that just 1 virus on 1 computer could bring down your entire network.
Firstly, it is essential that every computer (including laptops) and server attached to your network are running up-to date, reputable anti-virus software. Most anti-virus packages have a background service that minimises to the system tray (the area next to the time on your screen) and in most cases, will flash up reminders on your screen in the weeks/days leading up to it expiring. This is the time you need to contact us so we can arrange and install a new copy.
If you have 5 or more computers on your network, perhaps you should consider a Corportate Licence of anti-virus software. This is a cost-effective solution that will protect your computers and servers and it is all managed through the administrator profile of your server.
Check out our November special for more ways that we can assist you with your anti-virus solutions.

:: Product of the month - Multifunction Colour Laser Printers :: |
 |
If you walk into most workplaces, especially offices, you will no doubt find a fax machine, photocopier and laser printer. Wouldn't it be more economical if you had one unit that could do it all?
Multifunction colour laser printers are networkable, meaning every computer on your network can be connected to it. Its features include fax, scan, copy and colour laser printing. Obviously it will not replace an all-in-one photocopier that staples and binds, but if you are a bit short on space, feel like your always replacing ink cartridges and want something economical, perhaps a multifunction laser may be something you should consider.
The quality varies on the brand and model you purchase. Our preferred manufacturers are Epson and HP. They are renowed for their excellent quality, reliability, durability and cost efficiency. Prices start from approx $1000 and at ACEIT we make buying hardware easy with leasing options available for large purchases.
Call us today to discuss your requirements and let us assist you with making the right purchase for your business.
